REVIEW: Maybelline Full n Soft Mascara

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in weeks! My posts will be few and far between for a while. Life has been hectic and I'm trying to get back on track, I'll do my best to have more up!

Anyways, let's get into it!

I am a huge believer that you can get good quality makeup without paying department store prices. Looking into the drugstore, there are so many options, a lot of great products get looked over.

This mascara is one of them. I never hear very many people raving about it, which is sad because it's a really awesome product.

Maybelline's Full n Soft mascara promises, Full, Soft, Thick Lashes. Mine below is the waterproof version, but it's also available in none waterproof of course.

If you're looking for a good waterproof mascara, this is one of the best I've tried.

If not, it's still amazing.

The wand is a thick, natural bristle brush.
I like both plastic and regular wands but this one isn't too special. It's standard but it does a great job at separating the lashes.

Another reason I like this mascara is because the stopper cleans just the right amount of product off the brush. Lashes get really clumpy when a lot of product is left on the wand, but this stopper cleans enough off that there's not too much product on your lashes.

No Product, No Curl

No Product, With Curl

With Product & Curl
It adds a lot of thickness, and makes my lashes look really full and volumized. It's also very black and dramatic so I feel like my lashes really stand out. The waterproof, really does an amazing job of holding my curl.

I really LOVE this mascara and would highly recommend it!

Leave me a comment on your fave mascara!

Review: The BEST Eye Primer EVER (IONI 8hour Wear Eye Primer)

Long time no talk! I missed writing and I'm glad to be be back! I have a few very fun posts coming up for you guys, and I apologize for my absence. I guess life just caught up!

But while I was overwhelmed with less Glimmer related subjects, I discovered a new love! I did a haul and an explanation post on the IONI makeup line. This was one of the items I hauled and I'm so excited to finally get to sit down for this review!

I love this eyeshadow primer. Dare I use the words... Holy Grail!?

I think I do.

I am so in love with the performance of this primer. But I want to start off by saying I use this for POWDER PRODUCTS ONLY!

This product has a white doe foot applicator, which is nice for easy application. I know some people prefer squeeze tube type products but I myself am fine with either.

The product inside is a smooth clear formula that leaves no color behind what so ever!

This claims to be an 8hour wear product but I've worn it for 10 and it still looks as amazing as it was when I first applied my eye makeup. And even then I'm sure I could have worn it on for longer.

The consistency of this product is really smooth. Once it sets on your eye for a few seconds it develops a tacky feeling. At first I thought this might be an issue, but that's what makes this so amazing! The shadow instantly clings to the primer and it stays ALL DAY. It also doesn't crease or fade and even though the primer is clear, it still intensifies the shadow!

I think this is also one of the best primers for loose pigments. Nothing can make applying a pigment product to your eye than this.

Now the only con to this product, as I mentioned before, is I can only use it with powder products. It's very hard to blend a cream shadow over your lid, because of that tack it has. The primer will move with the cream product and then it looks cakey. Although this is an amazing powder shadow primer, I skip it when I want to use creams.

Top: Shadow with Primer
Bottom: Shadow NO Primer
As you can see below, this primer doesn't let the shadow budge. In the smudge test below, I rubbed on my hand pretty forcefully and the swatch with primer barely moved.

(I used the shade Serious from The Balm's Nude 'Tude Palette.)

Bottom: Shadow NO Primer

I loved this product so much I purchased a back up before I left Texas!

Definitely Holy Grail! Do Recommend!

Review: E.L.F. Studio Long-Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow

Hi everyone!
The week has begun and I hope everyone had an eventful Monday!

Today I'm going to review the E.L.F. Studio Long-Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow. This products is sold for $3 at eyeslipsface.com (they are currently having some awesome summertime sales.)
So let's dive right in!

The Claims: "Soft and fluffy, these vibrant, shimmering Long Lasting Lustrous eyeshadow colors can be used as eyeshadow or bold liner. The whipped gel texture is easy to blend and lightweight for lasting comfort and wear. Perfect for highlighting the brow bone and adding extra shimmer for a truly glam look."
(eyeslipsface.com)

What I Found:
If you couldn't tell from the description, these are cream shadows, but not. I've never had such a unique product in my collection before. (and i have quite the collection) These are definitely very soft and very fluffy shadows. I 100% agree with e.l.f. on that one. The texture is so unique. It's whipped and almost... spongy? Its the type of product you could push your finger into, and it would leave a dent. There is something "lustrous" about these shadows. It's almost luxurious feeling spreading these on your eyelids.

The vibrancy of these products surprised me. I thought they would blend out into a very sheer wash of color, because of the whipped up texture. I was wrong. Although you can blend these out to be sheerer, they are really pigmented if built up a bit. (way to go e.l.f.!) Sadly, the pigmentation doesn't last without a primer, and these do fade throughout the day. I myself do have mildly oily eye lids, nothing major, but they did fade after about 2 hours of wear. This was without primer.
I normally wear eyeshadow primer on a daily basis. For the sake of my reviews, I test products out with and without primer. With primer I found these lasted on me all day with no fading! It is harder to tell in the picture, but I do feel like primer also intensifies these already very vibrant colors. Since I wear primer weather I have to or not, I was happy with my results.

Moving on... Just so you all know, almost every eyeshadow product creases on me. Cream, powder, in between, all of them crease. (probably because I have a very pronounced natural crease in my eyelids) These did not! I was so pleasantly surprised! (again, way to go e.l.f.!) I was so happy that with and without primer, these never creased on me. Not once!

As far as being able to wear these as a bold liner goes, I strongly disagree.
These did not work for that purpose. At all. If you were looking for a 2-in-1 product here, unfortunately this isn't the one your looking for. I tried using the smokey black shade I purchased, to create a smooth line on my lid, and there were several problems. Firstly, like I said before, you build up the product to get the most pigmentation. Its difficult and not worth the time to have to go over and over your liner. A small, detailed liner brush just can't apply the product to make it look its best. Secondly, the texture simply isn't that of a gel or cream liner. It's too whipped to create that smooth, glide across the lid, effortless wing or thin line.

More Specifics:
As far as lightweight goes, for sure it is! These are really comfortable to wear.
You can create a lot of cool looks with these shadows. One thing I enjoy doing is taking the the first shade I have swatched, confetti, and applying it over a regular shadow. Because this shade is basically a white glitter, it adds dimension and sheen to your eye look!
In natural lighting, swatched WITHOUT primer
Shades Left to Rights: Confetti, Toast, Soiree, Gala, Festivity, Party
In natural lighting, swatched WITH primer.

I strongly recommend and hope I was helpful!
